Built for large tiles and unhurried play
Free Mahjong Solitaire started from a simple annoyance: most mahjong solitaire games online pack 144 tiny tiles onto the screen with faint, hard-to-read symbols, then rush you with a countdown timer on top of it. We wanted a version that didn't do either of those things.
So the tiles here are large by default, with a "Big & Bold" style that swaps fussy traditional patterns for big numbers, simple icons, and clear color-coding — you can still switch to the Classic tile style in Settings if you prefer the traditional look, and the two styles always match each other exactly, so switching never changes how a game plays out. There's no time limit, no countdown, and no score to chase. The small timer in the corner is just there if you're curious, and you can hide it entirely.
Every board is generated using a solvability algorithm, not placed at random, so you'll never run into a layout that can't be finished — and if you do get stuck partway through, the remaining tiles shuffle themselves into a new solvable arrangement automatically. Undo is unlimited, hints are unlimited, and your game saves itself in your browser so you can pick up right where you left off. No download, no account, no sign-up — just open the page and play.
