Play 8 Ball Pool Free Online
This is pool the way it is played in every bar and club in the world — fifteen numbered balls, a white cue ball, and the black 8 saved for last — made easy to see and easy to play. It runs straight in your browser with no download, no installer, and no account. Open the page and the balls are already racked.
The table is drawn as large as your screen allows, and it stands upright on a phone so the balls stay big enough to pick out at a glance. You do not need a steady hand: drag anywhere on the cloth and the white ball aims at your finger, with a long guide line, a ghost ball where it will strike, and a second line showing which way the ball you hit will travel. If dragging is fiddly, tap one of your own balls instead and the aim is set at its easiest pocket for you.
The power bar says Soft, Medium or Firm in words rather than showing a number, and one big button takes the shot. There is no clock and no score to protect. Undo is unlimited — it takes back your shot and the computer's answer together — and Hint will show you the shot the computer would play. If you close the tab, the table is saved exactly as you left it.
How to Play 8 Ball Pool
The aim is to pot all seven balls of your group and then the black 8. The first ball you pot after the break decides which group is yours.
- The break: the white ball starts behind the line at the near end of the table. Aim into the front of the triangle, choose Firm, and take the shot.
- Your group: pot a solid colour (1 to 7) and the solids are yours; pot a stripe (9 to 15) and the stripes are. Everything above the table says which is which, so you never have to keep it in your head.
- Keep shooting: every time you pot one of your own balls you shoot again. Miss, and it is the other player's turn.
- Fouls: potting the white ball, missing everything, or hitting the other group or the black 8 first is a foul. The other player then places the white ball and shoots. Nothing else is taken away from you.
- The 8: once your seven are gone, the black 8 is your ball. Pot it and you have won. Pot it early, or pot the white ball along with it, and the game goes the other way — so leave it alone until the end.
- Any pocket counts. You never have to call a pocket in this game, and the 8 may go down anywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this 8 Ball Pool game free?
Yes. It is completely free to play, with no purchases, subscriptions, or hidden fees.
Do I need to download anything?
No. It runs directly in your web browser on a computer, tablet, or phone. There is no app to install and no account to create.
How do you play 8 ball pool?
The first ball you pot after the break decides your group: the solid colours numbered 1 to 7, or the striped ones numbered 9 to 15. From then on you must hit one of your own balls first. Pot one of yours and you shoot again. When all seven of your balls are gone you play the black 8, and potting it wins the game.
How do I aim and take a shot?
Drag anywhere on the table and the white ball aims at your finger, with a long guide line showing where it will go and which way the ball it hits will travel. You can also simply tap one of your balls and the aim is set at its easiest pocket. Then slide the power bar to Soft, Medium or Firm and press Take the shot.
What happens if I foul?
A foul is potting the white ball, missing every ball, or hitting the other player's group or the black 8 first. Your turn passes to the other player, who places the white ball again. With the friendly rules this game uses by default they place it behind the line at the near end of the table; switch to the standard rules in Settings and they may place it anywhere.
Can I take a shot back?
Yes. Undo takes back your last shot, and the computer's reply with it, as many times as you like all the way to the break.
Is there a time limit or a score?
No. There is no clock, no countdown, and no score to protect. Take as long as you like over every shot.
Does it save my game?
Yes. The table is saved automatically in your browser, so you can close the tab and come back to exactly the same position.
